A lovely landscape painting by Frank Carmelitano, 1974. Abstract, expressive and impressionistic with a real 1970's feel. This is one of the best examples of his landscapes from this period. "Frank R. Carmelitano (1935–2003) was an American abstract painter and printmaker. Born in Astoria, New York, he spent a significant portion of his career living and working in Spain before eventually settling in Holiday, Florida. He is best known for his expressionist landscapes and figural works. Early Life & EducationBirth: Born in 1935 in Astoria, New York.Education: He studied at several prestigious institutions, including the Art Students League, New York University (NYU), the Pratt Institute, and the New School for Social Research.Career & ExhibitionsTime in Spain: Carmelitano lived and worked in Spain from 1968 to 1994, which greatly influenced his stylistic development.Solo Shows: He held solo exhibitions at notable venues such as the Gallery Skira and Gallery Kreisler in Madrid, Medinaceli Gallery in Southampton, and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Leon.Florida Period: Following his return from Spain, he was active in Florida and eventually passed away in Holiday, Florida, in 2003".
